Stars who fell in love with their on-set siblings

On-set romances between Hollywood co-stars aren’t uncommon occurrences at all.

Often, these are celebrities who are getting paid to make out and get hot and heavy in front of a camera, so it’s not surprising that some of that action may continue when filming stops. And while that makes total sense when two actors are filming steamy love scenes for hours at a time, it’s a little stranger — and way creepier — when they’re portraying one another’s brother and sister. Really gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “family affair,” huh?

The following celebrities sort of took their work home and mixed business with pleasure in the sense that they dated their co-stars — but those co-stars played their siblings, not their spouses. Please keep in mind that reality and fantasy are not the same, so despite what you’re used to watching at home or on the silver screen, these stars are not actually related!

Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt

Before they were Marvel movie fixtures, Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp’s breakout roles were on Everwood, where they starred as brother and sister Bright and Amy Abbott, respectively. They became smitten with one another on the set of the show, which debuted in 2002, and began dating in 2004.

Pratt admitted to TV Guide in 2006 that dating an on-screen sibling was a bit weird for him and VanCamp, but only because they were initially secretive about their romance for their first six months together to avoid making anyone else on set uncomfortable. Once they went public, though, it was just icky to people who didn’t know the couple well and couldn’t separate fiction from reality.

“We’ve pretty much gotten used to the response of, ‘Eww, that’s weird. That’s creepy,'” he said. “The people who know us are happy, and probably expected it to happen eventually. But yeah, every once in a while we get that one person that’s like, ‘That’s really creepy. You just kissed your sister.'”

Alas, once the show ended in 2006, the relationship eventually followed suit, and Pratt and VanCamp split in 2007.

Jamie Campbell-Bower and Lily Collins

Jamie Campbell-Bower and Lily Collins played demon-hunting brother and sister duo Jace and Clary Fray in the ill-fated film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones. Campbell-Bower and Collins got cozy on set and dated on and off for two social media PDA-filled years before splitting in October 2015 — and then reuniting yet again in January 2018.

Collins gushed to Glamour UK of their on-set and off-screen romance (via E! News), saying, “People are cast because they have chemistry. You’re spending 24-hour days together and it’s intense … plus you really get to know the best and worst sides of people — the rawest sides of people. You’re perfect for the role because you have that connection with each other and sometimes that translates into more.”

Sources said the couple always remained close, even in their off-again periods. In 2015, Hollywood Life reported that Collins told pals that Bower was her soulmate. Aw!

Lauren Graham and Peter Krause

Peter Krause and Lauren Graham played brother and sister Adam and Sarah Braverman on Parenthood from 2010 to 2015. Since then, they’ve been a real-life couple, and they’re almost too cute to stand.

Krause told Live! With Kelly And Ryan that the couple kept their relationship “pretty quiet” in the beginning, but they eventually went public when it got serious. He also revealed that she actually tried to date him almost 15 years earlier when they both guest-starred on Caroline in the City, but he didn’t pick up on her flirting.

“We had met on a show called Caroline in the City — a Lea Thompson show back in the day,” Krause said. “We were guest-starring. … She had me move some furniture into her apartment for her back then. She had got some thing. I didn’t catch the signal.”

Graham, for the most part, has been forthcoming about their romance, which is still going strong.

She wrote in her memoir Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls To Gilmore Girls (And Everything In Between), “At our age [Krause and I had] probably both been through ‘showmances’ that went south and made work an uncomfortable place to be. But ultimately, our mutual wariness gave way — it just sort of happened” (via People).
