Jason Aldean picked up the top honors for the third year in a row…as he was named Entertainer of the Year at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. It was an emotional acceptance speech for the singer…who was on stage during the Route 91 Harvest Festival Shooting.
Among the other winners…Miranda Lambert for best female vocalist of the year and Chris Stapleton who clinched the award for best male vocalist.
Other highlights included a rousing performance by Carrie Underwood who made her first television appearance since she injured her face and wrist back in November. Underwood sang ‘Cry Pretty’ the first single from her upcoming album.
And it was family affair as Reba McEntire who hosted the festivities on CBS sang a duet of her 1993 hit with her daughter in law Kelly Clarkson.
