Lynda Carter is an American icon, having starred as the original Wonder Woman in the hit 1970s live-action series Wonder Woman.
Not only did she suit up as Diana Prince, the DC superhero who likes to spin her way into saving the day, but the actress also gained fame as a singer, spokesmodel, and beauty pageant winner whose looks and likability have never wavered.
However, Carter has been largely absent from the screen scene in recent decades, emerging here and there for her famous eyewear commercials or to show some support for the newest Wonder Woman Gal Gadot. And while the world wasn’t looking, she raised her own little mini-me in the form of her daughter, Jessica Altman.
Altman, who is the second of the actress and husband Robert Altman’s two children, has grown up to be just as stunning as her mother, and, while she does seem to have a lot in common with her famous mother, she’s also carved out her very own identity as well. Let’s take a look at what we know about Lynda Carter’s daughter.
Leaving La La Land
Lynda Carter’s first marriage was to TV producer Ron Samuels, with whom she produced no children but enjoyed the heyday of her career. The two were wed from 1977 to 1983, when the actress was still riding her invisible jet for her hit CBS show. However, once she married Altman, she decided to take a break from the spotlight. Unlike her former husband, Altman wasn’t a part of the world of show business — instead, he was an attorney in Washington, D.C. — and Carter was eager to step away from her own career in the limelight to pursue a more fulfilling life away from the glitz and glam of Tinseltown. As she told People magazine, “I had a large body of work already, and I didn’t really have a lot of substance in my life. … I spent a lot of time on movie sets — and that is being said in a way right now that I’m grateful for it — but I didn’t have a lot of substance in my life.”
That substance would arrive later, however, in the form of her two bundles of joy: son James and daughter Jessica. As she’d write in a 2018 Mother’s Day tribute, becoming a mother to her children was the role she’s really relished the most. “Turns out my greatest adventure of all was becoming a mom,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself with her children. “And I have loved every minute of it.”

Like father, like daughter
Although their mother’s name might be more well-known in the zeitgeist, Jessica Altman and her brother, James, have both followed in the footsteps of their father, Robert Altman, and pursued the world of law. While James Altman attended George Washington University Law School, which was his father’s alma mater, Jessica Altman chose to achieve both her undergraduate degree in psychology and her law degree at the University of Michigan.
Even so, the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree in the end, as she accepted a position at the Washington, D.C. law firm Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher and now practices with their litigation department. However, despite her penchant for both politics (she interned with former congressman John D. Dingell in 2013) and the law, Jessica Carter Altman still has a lot more in common with her mother than just her middle name and signature striking eyes.
