Friday, 12.16

CBS, developing a modern-day reboot of one of TV’s most iconic comedies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is moving forward with an updated version of THE HONEYMOONERS.  The new series will center on two couples…neighbors and friends who contend with a new dynamic when one pair remarries after divorcing four years earlier.

honemooners2la-me-art-carney-20031113Set just before the events of the first Star Wars film, a soldier who’s also a criminal experiences her biggest challenge yet when she’s given a mission to steal the plans for the Empire’s Death Star.  With help from a team of resistance fighters, the undertaking promises to bring a new hope to the galaxy.  Felicity Jones stars in the film ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY.

Costarring Diego Luna and Forest Whitaker, ROGUE ONE opens today.

Thursday, 12.15

She picked up both a Golden Globe and a SAG Award nomination this week, for her role in ‘La La Land’ and now Emma Stone is set to play Cruella De Ville.  According to Deadline, Disney is moving forward with a live-action reimagining of the villain’s tale from 101 DALMATIONS. Meanwhile, MOZART IN THE JUNGLE creator Alex Timbers is in talks to direct the film.

So, Howard questions the universe by writing letters to Love, Time, and Death.  But when he receives unexpected answers, he begins to understand how these constants interlock.  Will Smith stars in the drama COLLATERAL BEAUTY.

Costarring Helen Mirren and Edward Norton, COLLATERAL BEAUTY opens tomorrow.

Wednesday, 12.14

The movie wrapped its filming back in August, but now that mother-daughter comedy starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn has a title.  It’s called SNATCHED.  The film, which marks Hawn’s return to the big screen after more than a decade, will follow the duo trapped in a family vacation gone wrong and is slated for release next summer.

He’s an African American father in the 1950’s, supporting his family as a trash collector.  As he struggles with race relations during that era, he begins to come to terms with the events that molded him.  Based on the award-winning play by August Wilson, Denzel Washington is director and star in the drama FENCES.

Costarring Viola Davis, FENCES opens in limited release on Friday.

Tuesday, 12.13

HBO, gearing up to make a multi-part documentary about the late boxing legend Muhammad Ali.  The premium cable network is partnering with basketball superstar LeBron James and TRAINING DAY director Antoine Fuqua (FEW-kwuh) to help tell the story.  The still untitled program will reportedly explore Ali’s greatest triumphs and comebacks.

DVD Tuesday – a young man finds a boarding school for kids with special powers in the Tim Burton adventure MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, out today on BluRay and DVD.  And a New York heiress dreams of becoming an opera singer, despite having a terrible singing voice.  Golden Globe nominee Meryl Streep stars in the biographical dramedy also nominated for a Globe…FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS.


Also out today – a group of comic book villains come together to stop an even greater threat.  Will Smith and Margot Robbie star in the film SUICIDE SQUAD.

Monday, 12.12

Oscar winning screenwriter Charles Randolph has been chosen to pen the script for a fisolacelm about the alleged sexual misconduct of former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will focus on Megyn Kelly and the other women who helped to bring down the powerful media mogul.  Randolph, won the Oscar last year for co-writing THE BIG SHORT.

He’s a psychic doctor who has lived in isolation since the death of his daughter a couple of years back.  Eventually John Clancy steps out of solitude to help a friend in the FBI… track down a serial killer.  But the problem is this murderer has psychic abilities even stronger than John’s.  Anthony Hopkins stars in the mystery thriller SOLACE.

Costarring Jeffery Dean Morgan and Colin Farrell, SOLACE opens in limited release on Friday.
