It’s time to bid farewell to Abby Sciuto on “NCIS.”
The long-running character, played by actress Pauley Perrette, is saying goodbye to the popular series after first appearing on the crime series back in 2003.
“It is true that I am leaving NCIS after this season. There have been all kinds of false stories as to why,” she explained on Twitter as rumors of her departure circulated.
“It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy EVERYTHING ABBY not only for the rest of this season, but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years,” Perrette continued.
This is Perrette’s 15th season playing the pigtailed forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the show. Perrette confirmed reports of her departure on Twitter on Wednesday, writing that “there have been all kinds of false rumors as to why” she’s leaving.
She says neither CBS nor the show’s producers are “mad” at her and the decision to leave was one she made last year. The 48-year-old Perrette adds that she loves her character “as much as you do.”
