Marvel Studios goes above and beyond when it comes to casting. While many outsiders were wary of their choice to cast Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, the actor has since become inseparable from the Stark name. The studio’s decision to cast other stars such as Chris Hemsworth and Chadwick Boseman have only solidified the company’s uncanny casting team. With so many blockbusters under its belt, Marvel Studios has also had a chance to balance its roster of up-and-coming talent with vetted industry icons. So far, Hollywood heavyweights like Robert Redford, Kurt Russell, and even Anthony Hopkins have taken roles within the MCU. And, according to the studio’s president, those all-star talents are just the tip of the iceberg.
Recently, Kevin Feige took time to chat with Fandango about the state of the MCU and its casting future. The site asked the producer which Hollywood veterans were on his hit-list for an upcoming feature, and Feige was able to confirm Marvel Studios did meet with Al Pacino at one point. However, in the coming years, it looks like the company has apparently nabbed several heavyweight stars.
“There are a few that are coming up, actually,” Feige explained. “I’ll keep this spoiler-free, but be assured that there are more surprises of that caliber heading into our universe in the next few films.”
As for whether Al Pacino is one of those stars, the executive producer said that was not quite the case.
